About

The FSAC History, Accomplishments and Team.

Fernie School Aged Care Ltd (FSAC) opened its doors and welcomed its first students in 2011.  At the time, no after school care, school break/’no school Fridays’ full day care programs for school aged children existed in Fernie. Hence, FSAC was independently created to fill the need and want for families in Fernie.

FSAC has an executive management team that work both on the floor and behind the scenes with the staff to create an environment where children and staff are free to learn, have fun and grow together. Executive management is made up of qualified Early Childhood Educators, who have a combined 25 years of experience and knowledge in their field and continue to update and upgrade their education.

All new staff members are required to have an up to date criminal record check, current first aid/CPR training and a minimum requirement of a 30 hour Responsible Adult course before working in ratio with the children.

In 2014 FSAC won the BC Provincial Childcare Award for Innovation. This was a proud moment for the entire team as only 8 childcare facilities in all of BC were chosen for this award. In 2019, FSAC were also finalists in the Fernie Business and Excellence Awards, nominated for Team of the Year.

Fernie School Aged Care work alongside ‘FSAC Camps Society’ – a not for profit organisation committed to ensuring quality full day camps are available to the families of Fernie. This includes both full-day Friday and school break programs.
